Every other day

Are you getting Halloween invitations yet? Pinky is getting one every other day it seems. She has five kids who are all in school already so I guess that’s not surprising anymore. There are invites coming from classmates and some are from around the neighborhood. It will be tough to choose just one but she is letting her kids decide.

Pinky is a cool mom who lets her kids be most of the time, but still guiding them from a distance.

Business presentation

I once occupied the purchasing officer post. I know when vendors present their proposals. They use those custom presentation folders wherein everything about the company as well as the specific product they’re presenting are in there as well as their business cards.

If you are a business about to make a proposal to companies for them to use your company for their requirements, go buy those folders. You need that for your business presentation.

Adopted aunt

My sisters and I are sending over lilly flowers to our favorite adopted aunt. She’s our aunt’s best friend and a permanent fixture in our family gatherings. She’s a good person and very good to me and my sisters so we sort of “adopted” her to our family as our aunt.

She just delivered a bouncing baby boy, her second child, last weekend. We just learned about it so we are sending over some flowers right away. We are going to visit her tomorrow.

For the little kids

Uncle Ging just bought pairs of merrell shoes for each of the young cousins. He got a windfall and since he is single and close to the whole clan, he thought he might as well spend his windfall on something that will benefit the kids in the family.

A very generous uncle even to us older generation. I remember he would give us candies or little toys whenever he got his paycheck. He still does this now to the younger ones in the clan.

Drawers and bookshelves

My aunt’s house has a lot of drawers and bookshelves around. My cousin would always bump herself on the corners of the drawers and bookshelves that she is always complaining about it. My aunt is getting a convex mirror to put on these drawers and bookshelves so that there won’t be any accidental bumps anymore.

I will also get some for our home since we also have a lot of drawers around.

Saved a kid

Thank goodness for binoculars! Hans received the binoculars last Christmas from his uncle. He uses it whenever he needs to check out what’s happening around the block. While using it yesterday, he saw that his neighbor’s kid was about to cross the street unaided. The kid is just three!

So he immediately called up his neighbor to alert them that their kid managed to get out of the house. They were very thankful to Hans. Otherwise, their kid might have gotten into an accident without them knowing it.

Two brothers

John is buying mens ties for him and for his brother. They are attending a couple of formal dance parties to be hosted by common friends of theirs. John is just one year younger than his brother so they have a common set of friends. The two brothers are close to each other so whenever John buys something for himself, he makes sure he gets some for his brother, too. And vice versa.

Bitter old man

Do you know what to say to a man who’s so bitter in life that whenever he opens his mouth all he has to say are rants about his work, colleagues and life in general?

I’m friends with one of my high school teachers on Facebook. Most of the time his status would say something negative that’s happening to him. A rant about how unappreciated he was. A rant about his colleagues whom he feels are betraying him, stabbing him from behind. A rant about his life and his work. There was even one time when he wrote that he wanted to end it all.

The truth is, I pity the man. He is bitter. He’s grown old single and he admitted to me and my friends that teaching is his whole life. He gets so depressed when he already has to say goodbye to his graduating students. He would often drop me a line asking for prayers. And it makes me pity him more.

He told us about how he used to have a group of friends and one by one they left for abroad or have become busy with married life. He’s also bitter about that. He also said that he’s not really close to his siblings and they often quarrel when he’s at his parents’ house. He supports his parents and sends some nieces and nephews to school.

I pray that someday he may find a companion with whom he can spend the rest of his life with. That will make him happy. That will stop him from being bitter about life. I pray it does.
