Starting a collection

There are fake toy gold coins in the house. My little cousins are playing with it. They got it from the loot bags they were given at a kid’s birthday party we all attended last month. Looking at it, I am getting this idea of buying gold coins. Starting a collection. One at a time. If I have the excess funds, I’d go buy one. A collection and an investment at the same time.

I am gathering information about it at the US Gold Bureau. When I know enough, I will surely start buying gold coins. One at a time, or when budget permits.

Final words

What are your final words for August?

Goodbye and I hope next year I will be prepared for you!

That’s what I want to say about my August this year. And the years of the past. August is a hard month. I know it may just be coincidence but almost every August of my past were months filled with hardships. And I am talking financially here.

Anyway, next year, I swear I will be prepared for this month. In fact, as early as October of this year, preparations will be under way.

;)

Quote of the day

quote

Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.

- Paul Boese

I am big on forgiveness. I guess when you become older, you tend to be more forgiving. Or in my case, anyway. I always keep in mind that life is short. Sure, I am not perfect. I still get angry. There are persons I don’t talk to. But in my heart there’s no hatred and I always forgive. If not, I forget which is a good thing ;)

Forgive and forget. Life is too short to be carrying these things in our hearts. And time is wasted on these negative emotions so if we can, let’s not dwell too much on anger and hatred.

Reminded me of gold

My dad asked me to buy cooking oil. Somehow, the golden color of the oil reminded me of the conversation I had with one of my friends about gold bullion. He is gathering information because he and his dad are both thinking of investing in gold. According to my friend, they’ve been hearing good things about it so they want to try and get their hands into some of those money.

Anyway, they are still talking amongst themselves, in the family, because they want everyone to know what they are getting into before they invest.

Oh by the way, they found information at the USGoldBureau.com.

One channel

Travel and Living Channel

You know what? If I have my own television, it will be tuned in only on one channel. That’s Travel & Living only. I love travel shows and most especially cooking shows! Anything about food, cooking with traveling… I love that!

And of course, I should mention that I am a big fan of Jamie Oliver, Anthony Bourdain, Ian Wright and Curtis Stone.

About to lose job

“I need a job!”

That’s the first thing I heard when I picked up the phone. It turned out to be my friend Nadia asking for help. She is bound to lose her current job because the company she’s working for will be relocating to a really far away province. She can’t relocate together with the company because her family, husband and two kids, are here in the city.

Nadia also can’t just stop working because she is helping her husband make both ends meet. Their kids are both going to school so a decrease in their monthly income is a no-no.

I told her to send her resume over so I can check it and then go to Job.com right away for available jobs.

Smell of perfume

What nauseates you?

Spraying perfume

Truth is, I am not much into the smell of perfumes. Cologne is fine with me. But the strong smell of most perfumes nauseates me. I always ask my dad and my brother to spray their perfume outside the house. Men have really strong smelling perfumes. The two men in the house are typical ones.

And it takes a while for me to get the smell off my nose and mind.

On a rainy Saturday…

What’s your favorite thing to do on a rainy Saturday?

Raining Out

I actually love curling up on the sofa or on the bed during a rainy Saturday. I bring with me a good book or two and my ever reliable booklight. And then I read until I get sleepy.

Sometimes, when I am inclined, I go watch movies one after another. But I prefer curling up and reading.

Teaching beauty…

Regency is a Cosmetology School in Austin. It was founded 50 years ago and is continually expanding. It now has almost 30 campuses across nine states. Do you want to know more? Then let me tell you about Regency some more…

The school is offering a unique approach to teaching beauty. They are training their students by letting them offer salon services for a discounted price to the public. Of course, under the expert supervision of the faculty. Learning and training at the same time.

Go ahead, visit the school’s web site at RegencyBeauty.com and know more about Regency and their unique approach to teaching.

Way too quickly

Do you think little girls are growing up much too quickly?

Yes, I do think so. I remember when I was growing up, I wasn’t too much aware of my sexuality. I used to dress up based on what’s comfortable. I used to go out of the house wearing whatever shirt and pants I had on and would go to my friends to play. These days, you can see even as young as 4-year-old kids worrying about what’s fashionable or what to wear. There’s make-up, branded clothes, and too much peer pressure not only on those kids already going to school but even those kids just playing in the neighborhood park.

I just say that media is playing a big role in the fast growth of kids.

Quote of the day

quote

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be?

Something to think about…

Happy weekend!

Warmth and joint aches

I love the cold weather! When it’s cold, I don’t get to sweat as much plus I feel more comfortable that way. But at night time, I must admit that an electric blanket comes handy to me. I have problems with my joints, especially on my knees. When it’s cold, my joints ache a little. To prevent that from happening, I make sure I get that part of me warm right away.

Health plan is important.

It took us a death to realize how important a health plan is. My mom was sick for three years before she succumb to death. In those three years, we incurred so many debts because my mom had no health plan to speak of. We paid everything in cash. And my mom’s sickness was not an ordinary one.

So after that, we realized that it would be wise to get something like a Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina health plan. Two of my sisters have their own while I will be getting the rest of us one each. I just have to talk to them about getting one first and then off to get the plan!

Easy on the road

Geotagging. Navigation software. Global Positioning System. GPS has made our lives easier while we’re on the road. Whereas before we need a map to go to a place we don’t know, looking at it while driving, the GPS can tell you which way to go. Turn left, turn right. Straight ahead. 10km away.

I gathered gps reviews so that I can show it to my cousin King. He needs to get one for his old car which he will use to go out of town next weekend. He needs a guide because it will be his first time to go to that town and he doesn’t want to waste his day getting lost.

Two slideshows

Sonny created two slide shows for his two siblings who are celebrating their entry to adulthood. His younger sister is turning 18 next week and on the next day, his older brother will turn 21. He is sandwiched in between at 19.

The slideshows are photos and videos of the two. Wacky, serious and everything in between. He will present both slideshows during the dinner parties that will be held for them. Sonny is already anticipating the reaction of his brother and his sister as well as their parents and relatives. It will be fun for sure!

Sisig and spring rolls

Can you guess what I am craving for right now?

Jay-Js Sisig

That’s Jay-J’s Inasal’s Pork Sisig.

Jatujaks Spring Rolls

And that’s Jatujak’s Spring Rolls.

Yes, I am craving for both! Actually, anything with sprouts in it I am craving for right now. And some Kani Salad, too!

But I have to settle for fish with tomato and ripe mango. Still a yummy dinner for me.

A new bed for dad

My dad is overweight. He sometimes finds it hard to sleep because of the lumpy mattress that he’s using right now. When I saw the adjustable beds online, I immediately thought of my dad. I will buy him one of those beds!

An adjustable bed is like a recliner. You can easily adjust the position of the bed based on what’s comfortable to you. That’s what I like about it. And I know my dad will find this bed beneficial to him.

Big volume

My uncle has a cellphone and cellphone accessories shop. He also offers repair and trading in of old models. Since he wants to offers the lowest prices possible to his clients, he buys his inventory wholesale. We all know that we can get an item at a lower price if we buy it by the volume. That’s what my uncle does.

So now he’s offering a lot of cellphone accessories for really low prices. Thanks to the items he found at Liquidation.com, a site offering wholesale and surplus auctions.

Everything

How can I stand here with You and not be moved by You?
Would You tell me how could it be any better than this?

Everything by Lifehouse is one of my fave songs of all time. It can be interpreted in two ways. One is love for a woman. The other interpretation is love for the Lord. I actually like to think of the song more as a praise song more than a love song.

There’s actually a skit being acted out in front of Christian services based on the song. You can search for it in Youtube. That’s why I know that this song is more of praising the Lord more than loving a person.
