Renzo used to be an alcoholic. He turned to alcohol when he got so depressed with the way his life turned out. He lost his long-time girlfriend. He lost his job. When depression set in, he turned to alcohol as an escape.
Before anybody else could intervene, he himself acknowledged his problem. He sought professional help and attended therapy sessions to address his depression. When his medical doctors and therapists gave him the all-clear, he went home happy and a changed man. He is back to work. He is now doing fine and when he is a bit lonely, he goes online and plays Online Craps. He actually met some pretty decent people because of his occasional leisure. He doesn’t play every day but at least once or twice a month. He told his shrink about it and he approves. He knows he needs some diversion from all the difficulties of every day life and since he isn’t harming anybody else with his playing online, then he is fine doing it. Sometimes, he plays Slots Online. It is a no-brainer game and he loves it.
I like the fact that Renzo is well-grounded now. He knows that he is vulnerable because he once succumbed to depression. He knows he could go back and suffer from depression again and it will be back to square one for him. So he sees a medical professional from time to time. He still attends a support group. He actually now gives inspiration to a lot of the people he’s met who suffered the same fate as his. I think acknowledgment is the key. Awareness. If you acknowledge the problem, then you are open to trying out the various solutions given to you. And the healing and change will start from there.
Just be sure to leave some room for fun after the healing, okay?
