by LaraIt’s not easy taking care of a cleaning franchise and an older family member who’s sick. I have actually experienced it first hand so I know…
My maternal grandmother is now bedridden. She’s sick with diabetes and have been slowly shutting out the world. Some of our relatives have been telling me to bring her to a facility so that it won’t be a burden for us nursing her daily. But I can’t bring myself to do it. She is not a burden to us. She had taken care of us when we were struggling financially and emotionally and now that it’s her turn to be struggling, I want us to be there for her.
I am now paying for her bills. I have employed someone to be by her side all the time. I give her what she wants as long as it is okay for her. She’s diabetic so her food is always being checked. I visit her regularly since I live just a few houses away from her. I make sure that she’s fine despite being bedridden for months.
When we were little kids, our grandparents took care of us when our parents were busy with work. It’s our turn now to take care of our elders. Are you ready to take on that responsibility?
